My Birthday
Tuesday in fact was THE day. But in my busy schedule I was unable to post on the actual day.I have completed my 25th year. Quite shocking I know. But true none-the-less. It began very well ~ and for the most part just got better as the day went on! To start it was sunny outside in the early morning, which is not very common in Salinas, but when it does happen it promises to be fine all day.
I work from 9:30 to 1:00. The last thing to do on my work list that day was the bank run. When I got back my boss's wife and co-worker Kimberly were there. (This is not uncommon for them to come by during a work day, also it was Kimberly's day off) I thought nothing of it until I walked to the back and found that my desk had been transformed into a party table w/ tablecloth, cake, and gifts! The only thing that had stayed in the relativly same position was my mug. The only thing we waited for was for Melissa (boss's daughter) to arrive. Once she did, what proceeded was a very loud rendition of happy birthday ~ in spanish ~ with the window that looks down on an outdoor restaurant area wide open. I heard applause from below after they finished singing! After everything had started to come toward a close, ie: gifts opened and admired, cake mostly eaten, etc. Andres (my boss) askes me what my birthday wish is. "Only one?" I ask. To which he replies "yes, you can only have one man."!!! He tries to get my goat alot but then I got him really good about a week ago...I'll save that for another post. Anyway, the first birthday wish that popped into my mind was that Beka would come down here and give me a haircut! :D Andres' response was: "that's an expensive haircut"
I had various calls and e-mails throughout the next couple days incl. Nathan on Wed morning while I was trying to find my way out of the San Jose airport onto Hwy 1 S. :D Emily left me a voicemail with her singing. Mom called Tues evening and she and grandparents and Auntie sang. Poor Elliot thought he was the first to wish me a happy birthday (over e-mail @ 12:06) but actually it was Alicia. They were all up late packing that night and weren't in bed until after 12. At 12:04 she got the first one out of the day! Sorry Elliot! :) BTW: this is a thank you to every one who called or e-mailed with best wishes. So it also incl: Kristi, Andrea, Ethan, Johanna, Grandma, & Ron in addition to those mentioned above. Thank you all!!
Oh just to let you all know, I think Emmy was going to plan a party in my honor for you all up there! I'm not sure how far she has gotten. :P
