Wedding

Wow! It has been over a week already since the wedding! I guess I should update you all on how it went.

Well...The song, called "Bless the Broken Road" originally sung by 'Rascal Flats' a country western group, went well in my opinion. Ben unfortunately made a very minor flub-up. He forgot a couple words of the chorus, but I was able to cue him in very quickly and only the people who knew the song or knew music noticed. Ben felt really bad though. My piano playing had no major mistakes. Not that anyone would have noticed otherwise. The original arrangement is with the guitar and drums mostly. Piano normally would play a small role in the accompaniment. So since no one knew what the piano was supposed to sound like in the first place - I got to do pretty much what I wanted! -While keeping Ben on key of course. :)

The whole wedding had a country theme to it. The colors were Black, White and Red. The groomsmen all wore cowboy boots and new black wrangler jeans. White collar-less shirts w/ black vests completed their outfits. The bridesmaids all wore different styles of black dresses. The decorations were black & white neck-kerchiefs with candles on top of them. Red roses with other white flowers lots of greenery.

It was a beautiful wedding and reception and I was very glad to be there. Bro. Mark could almost have been called my 'date' for the occation. He did the sound at church for the ceremony. We all (Mark, Ben, and I) had lots of fun!

Piano

Pianos are such amazing instruments! You can get so many different styles of music out of them. Usually I like to get a classical sound out of it or possibly a rag-time sound. And then of course there are the hymns I play every third Sunday which have there own special sound! But right now I am engrossed in trying to get a country western music sound out of a piano. And not just a regular piano-it is a key-board which at sometimes may be more fun than a regular piano but it is much harder to play by far!! But it is a nessecity because I am accompanying my brother Ben who is singing at a wedding. The song that he is to sing is written in a higher key than he can sing. So instead of trying to write the whole song out in a different key on other sheet music, -- I cheat!! :) There is a knob on the keyboard that lets me play any key signature I want - without changing the notes that I am playing! Now for those of you out there who haven't taken any sort of music lessons this may be a rather in-depth description. You'll just have to trust me when I say that it really IS cheating!! But it's fun!! The rehearsal went well tonight and all that is left to do is perform the song without any major flub-ups. I'll write again of how the song goes.

I'm Off!, no- On!

I am either "off" to a great start or finally "on" the web. Either way I am going to try to keep this blog up till I am some semblance of a writer. Then it won't be work to keep it up it will be fun! Okay I'll admit: it is fun right now too. We'll be seeing how it goes!
