Learning

There are many things to learn in this life. I am learning the proverbial 'something new every day' at my work. And I have been there for 3 1/2 years. You'd never think there was that much to know about glass and windows and doors. Also, I am hoping to take more classes this fall at WCC. I'm till praying and plugging away in the hopes that some day I just might get that music degree! But that is another blog for another time!

The most recent thing that has come to my attention is I Cor. 13:4-8a
"Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy: love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails." NKJV

I can take each one of those phrases and totaly be discouraged at how far I am from succeeding to love my family and friends. Think about that for a bit and then follow that up with remembering that Jesus told us to love our enemies as well. Ouch!! Me I don't think I have any enemies that I come in contact with so the main source of my frustration is trying to love my family and friends in the way described in this passage.

I won't go on and bore any of my readers with my specific struggles with these verses, or go on to preach to ya'll about each phrase. I just wanted to give everyone food for thought on this passage that might often get put in 'oh, that's sweet' catagory.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Yes, I agree that that passage is a mighty convicting one!!! It does me well to read it again. I hadn't read it in a while. May we never give up in our strivings to love as we are commanded to love. By God's grace, we SHALL make progress!
Thanks!

This definetly is a passage that deserves much thought and prayer. The thing that I find the most challenging is how to actually put it into practice. I can love in a sentimental way but to really love in a way that is productive is the part that really challenges me and causes me to see my failings on a regular basis.

Hmmm. Thanks for bringing this verse up. I needed to be reminded. Following that verse is one of the many things that I fight to do every day.

Man, that's one of "those verses." It applies everyone no matter where in life they are. I have the same struggle w/family. I have a specific problem right now of not even wanting to change it right now. In 1 1/2 years I'm outa here and in college, so I need to get my act together before I leave.

Its so no-nonsense. So straightforward, non apologetic, clear as a bell, and about as beautiful too. But oh-so-painful!
